Harriet’s story
Harriet was one of the last cats to come into our care in 2013. Harriet really tested Ehren and the volunteer’s ability to work and organise a rescue in a county many hours away from their base. Harriet’s previous owner sadly suffers from substance addiction. She was taken into care in a hospital for such a long time that the council boarded up her flat leaving Harriet outside at the beginning of winter. Harriet’s owner’s mum saw no other option than to have 14 year young Harriet put to sleep. Luckily she contacted Goldie’s Cat Rescue literally a day before she had booked Harriet’s appointment at the vets and we were able to find a cattery who would look after Harriet for a week while Goldie’s organised a transport run. With a big thank you due to Rugeley Cat Society for their assistance with transporting Harriet for the 3 hours drive to London, Ehren then meet their volunteer in West London and transported Harriet back to her home to stay with her until she found her forever home.
Harriet’s happy ending
Harriet was adopted 9 days before Christmas by The James’ family. The photo on our website is of Harriet in her favourite place, sunbathing in the garden. The James’ had never really thought about adopting an older cat, but they now say it was the best thing they have ever done. They found her by chance while browsing Goldie’s Facebook page and something just clicked. She became part of their family straight away and they love her cheeky personality. Stephanie says she cannot stress what a wonderful feeling it is to give a cat another chance of a good life, the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about. Age is not an issue, after all, it is just a number, but they hope they have many more years with her.
